Re: Expression Syntax Exercises

Dear CSCI-316 Students,

Some more material relating to functional programming in Lisp will be covered next week. After that we’ll move on to a new topic: expression syntax. The PDF document Syntax-Reading-and-Exercises on Brightspace (in the Course Documents section) gives a reading assignment and homework exercises on this topic that you should be sure to do before Exam 1 (which is still scheduled to be given on Monday 11/17, the date announced in the 1st-day-announcements document).

A copy of this document is attached.

Important Note on Page Numbers

Note that the document includes solutions to the exercises. The page numbers in the document refer to the page numbers shown at the TOP of the relevant pages of the course reader (and NOT the numbers shown at the bottom of each page). For example, p. 33 is the page of the course reader that contains the section heading “2.3 LEXICAL SYNTAX” (though you are not asked to read section 2.3 before Exam 1).

Previous Email

This is the second of two emails I am sending you today: My previous e-mail explained how you can access my solutions to Assignment 4, and how you can use QUICKCHECK to run some tests on your Assignment 4 submission.

See you in class on Monday.
